Import bans / Temporary restrictions / Special conditions
These pages contain temporary safeguard measures as well as special conditions applicable to import (some categories of) animals and products of animal origin to Switzerland. They have absolute priority over the standard import conditions normally applicable or any permits that might have already been issued.
In general, consignments that are subject to border veterinary inspections can only be imported from those countries that are explicitly included in the EU product-specific list of countries.
Measures take precedence over country lists
In the event of disease outbreaks or other risks, however, additional restrictive measures will also be introduced that are not featured in the corresponding country lists. These restrictive measures are shown on this page and take precedence over the respective country lists, i.e. if an additional restrictive measure is in place, a product cannot be imported even if this product would be allowed according to the country list.
